Copyright Assignment

For my copyright assignment I found the following two videos on You Tube that exemplify good and bad ways to abide by copyright laws.  Beneath each video is my critique of the videos use of copyright.

Although there are some pretty cool photos in this slideshow, it lacks credibility.  I have personally seen some of the photos on the slideshow in textbooks, which I know have to obtain the right to use the photos.  This slideshow does a couple of things well by showing what website a photo was obtained from at 0:21 into the slideshow, and by having purchased the music, giving the artist credit, and showing where the music can be bought.  On the down side, only one of the photos is given credit compared to over 30 photos in the entire slideshow.  Most of the pictures look like they come from different photographers, indicating that the rights would need to be obtained from each photographer.  These mistakes could be corrected by getting permission from the people who own the rights to the pictures or by including citations that give the photographers credit.

Winnie the Pooh and I go way back, but unfortunately, this video was not downloaded legally because it is in a part 1 of 8 series and does not give credit to the creators, Disney.  I am not sure if the person who downloaded the videos has the right to post this on You Tube, so the person could have made it very clear that he has been given rights to the film by indicating so on the info section of the film segment.  He could also improve by providing a link to where the film can be purchased to make sure that he isn't infringing on Disney's marketing ability.
